Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR was developed by Francine Shapiro 20 years ago. It is a unique and powerful therapy that helps recovery from problems triggered by traumatic events. Stopping difficult memories causing distress by helping the brain to reprocess them properly.

EMDR is best known for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and it can also help with a range of mental health conditions in people of all ages.

EMDR is not for everyone. There will be a careful stepped assessment and treatment plan prior to starting any desensitisation process.

Therapy sessions can be longer than the standard 50 minutes with a preference to 90 minutes with the amount of sessions varying from a few to 10 plus dependant on the amount of unprocessed memories that are needed or requested to be desensitised and reprocessed.
